About those goals…

Remember that last post about those 9 hours of exercise I was supposed to get in? Yeah. Well, I’ve been sick since Thursday and the only exercise I’ve done since then is walk down to the laundry room and back. Sadly that left me winded because hi, I can’t really breathe over here. Somebody bring me my Vicks.

In all honesty, I’m not sure how much working out I would have done this weekend if I weren’t sick anyway. It was horrifically hot here all weekend. And, yes 90 degrees means horrifically hot to me. If I lived some place where it was hot all the time like this…I’d probably want to shoot myself. Seriously…how do you Southerners do it? I have NO energy when it’s hot.

One good thing about being sick was that I did manage to finish the last few books in the series my Grams got me for Christmas. I must say I was a little skeptical about the whole thing during the first book, but I really ended up loving the series. It was quite interesting reading about the Amish and their traditions. And, I really think the Amish way of courting is romantic. Oh…how I wish a beau would ask me to ride along with him in his open carriage buggy after Sunday night singin’s. We could sit “ever so close” and enjoy eachother’s company as we rode down the dirt roads under the cover of night. *sigh*

OKAY…so moving on. This weeks fitness goals. I think I’ll just try to do what I wanted to do last week since I’m still feeling pretty much dead today.

Walk: 40 min / 3 times this week
Run: 25 min / 4 times
Bike: 50 min / 4 times
Swim: 30 min / 2 times
Weight Lifting: 20-25 min /3 times
Other:

Total hours of exercise: 9

Minor Changes

I think from this point forward, the ol’ blog might be more focused on training things. I’ve gotten lazy about updating, and quite frankly — I don’t have much to blog about in general. Not that I really had much to blog about to begin with…

Plus, I kind of like posting fitness goals for the week, because even if no one else cares – I know it’s there and that holds me accountable. Sort of. It’ll probably be a mix of both — we’ll see.

So, my fitness goals for this week — even though it’s already Wednesday — I’ve modified them to fit the rest of the week:

Walk: 40 min / 3 times this week
Run: 25 min / 4 times
Bike: 50 min / 4 times
Swim: 30 min / 2 times
Weight Lifting: 20-25 min /3 times
Other:

Total hours of exercise: 9 (priceless)

Hmm…that sounds kind of like a lot.

I’ll probably post actuals at the end of the week or something…not entirely sure how I’m going to handle this.

Also, it looks like the counter thing isn’t so great at counting…not too sure what happened there. I might have to look around for a new one.

Stake it U.K.!!

Dad? Is that you?

Anyone else out there have a case of the Monday’s today?

Yeah, me too.

In case you didn’t know, yesterday was Father’s Day. Being the wonderful daughter that I am, I wanted to give my pops a call and tell him how much I love him and all that mushy jazz. So, last week I got a new cell phone and only some of my numbers got transfered over. My dad has 2 cell phones (don’t ask why) and a work number. So, somehow his work number only got transfered over to the new phone. So, since he doesn’t work on Sundays, I figured I would be able to just remember his number from his oldest cell phone. Right? So, I punch in the number and ring him up.

Dad: Hello?
Me: Hey POPS!!!
Dad: Hi. What do you want?
Me: Uhm…just wanted to wish you Happy Father’s Day!!!!!
Dad: Thanks.
Me: How are you?
Dad: Fine.
Me: How was your week?
Dad: Shitty
(at this point I’m like, WTF is dad’s problem?!)
Me: Are you sick? You sound kind of sick.
Dad: No.
(I’m thinking…what is up with these one word answers?! Why is he being such a jerk?!)
Me: Well, what are you up to today?
Dad: Just recovering from last night. It was a rough night.
(Is my dad hungover?!!)
Me: Oh…okay. Were you out working on your yard late?
Dad: No. I was at the bar getting drunk.

At this point I’m thinking…who the hell am I talking to? This doesn’t sound like dad. Then I realize….IT IS NOT MY DAD.

*click*

Hahahah…oh my gosh who the heck did I just talk to and wish a Happy Father’s Day to?! And who did THEY think they were talking to?!

So, anyway…I called home and told Phil the story and he’s like…”Yeah…dad had that number disconnected last week and is using his other phone now.” GREAT!!

I did eventually get to talk to my pops and I must say, he was not drunk or hungover and was generally happy to talk to me. Whew.

It’s Time

Yesterday began what I will refer to from now on as…”OMGWTF this sucks, I hate training for the triathlon — what I wouldn’t give for a piece of cake.”

Yes, the triathlon is upon us (me)! Please take a look at the sidebar of the blog, and you’ll see that I have created a countdown. For those of you who do better with just dates, it’s going to be August 20th. Which, also just so happens to be my 25th birthday. Crazy, huh? So, really the countdown is good for two things. The day of the triathlon and the day my insurance rates drop. HOLLA!

I’ve been saying for quite some time that I was going to start preparing myself for this – but, I think we all know I’m a liar and this girl loves her food far too much to give it up so soon. However, when I was home the other weekend, I realized I needed to jump on the bandwagon. I got some serious flack everytime I shoved some sort of food item in my mouth. “You’re eating that and you’re going to be in a triathlon?!” Granted, I was eating approximately every 15 minutes…. Also, when I was winded from walking up the ramp in the parking garage — I heard, “And you’re going to be in a triathlon?!!” Cut me a little slack here, I hadn’t slept in over 24 hours and I was lugging my 50 pounds suitcase. ANYWAY.

The day has dawned. I bought some much needed new running shoes. My old pair were over 3 years old, and the traction was actually missing in most parts of the shoe, which meant there was nothing but a flimsy insert between my tootsies and the ground. Gee, I wonder why my legs hurt all the time. Also, I managed to pick up a $6 training watch that looks sort of official. I did this mostly because I received a large amount of ribbing over the $12 velcro watch I bought last year. So what if it looks like I got it free with a Meal Deal…hopefully people will get off my back now.

As I said, yesterday was the first day. I felt remarkably the same as I did last year when I started training. It will take about 3 days for my body to get used to this…so I’m just going to have to buck up. Also, this first week will be more or less used to ease myself back into exercising. In the mean time I’m going to think up some type of training schedule with goals and all that fun stuff.

So…here I go…ready to conquer the world and knock 15 minutes off last years time.

“I’m home, I’m safe, I’m alive”

The surprises went fabulously and I had such a wonderful time at home. It was so cute when my grandma opened her door and I poked my head in and all she could say was, “No!! Oh for heaven’s sake!” There were tears and strong hugs and it was wonderful. It was also fun to surprise my mom. Homedog went up to the Nurses station a few minutes before me, and told them of the plan and I came up and Pammy had her back to me and I rounded the corner and I said hello, and she looked at me as if she didn’t recognize me. It took her a few seconds and she jumped out of her chair and there were tears and strong hugs and it was wonderful.

We all had such a great time, swimming, basking in the sun, spending time with the fam, laughing, being loud and just loving every minute of it. I’m so thankful I got to go back home. I will say that I am also thankful to be back in Seattle because there are no man-eating bugs here and I seriously think I live in the most beautiful area in the U.S.

Anyway, I had to get the rest of my abnormal mole removed this morning. It was weird. They numbed me up and all, but I could still hear them doing stuff. The nurse had to cut my hair and actually shaved me. She said, “now, don’t be alarmed – I’m going to go get a razor.” Um….ALARMED!! I’ve got a big bandage over it right now, and I’m too scared to look at it to see the exact damage. Anyway, I’ve got 2 sets of stitches in, and one of the sets will disolve in 2-3 months. Crazy, I didn’t know they made some like that. Hm. Anyway, I took a sick day today and I’m icing every hour for 15 minutes and it’s annoying. But, I get to wear my sweatpants all day — so I’m not really going to complain.

If you’re the type that likes to look at other people’s vacation pictures (I know I am) there are a bunch over at flickr. Peace out!
